In the hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy they say the answer to life, the universe and everything is 42 (or some other number but I am too lazy to find out what it is and I like the number 42)

Define live.
Is sitting in a cave staring at a wall living?
or do you have to interact with people?
Yes your answer works but is far too simplistic.

Because everything is complex. only the surface looks simple.
Good example of this is an orange....

well ,this does start out simple and if you look at it in my perspective on things, it stays that simple...the basic answer is just to live, but there's rules when it comes to living. You have to eat, breath, drink, use the bathroom, so on so forth. But anything above that has to do with us and our personal desire to have more, lessen the burden of life, and get along with others of our human kind (friends/family/mates). There's allot of things in society that we don't NEED in order to live, and just complicate the process of living anyways. Money is one of these things, animals don't use money, yet they live. We don't NEED money to live per say but society demands it, and being without it makes it even more complicated to live. Everything that we eat, drink and want, we would have to make our selves. And well lets face it humans are a lasy creatures, money can even draw in a mate, and even make it so we don't have to work as much. (more money=less work in the long run, you can buy more of the things that make our live less complicated, but at the same time these things end up complicating things more.) Your new home is a prime example of something you WANTED, but didn't necessarily NEED, that ended up complicated your life more. You could have always stayed in an apartment, or lived in the tree house for that matter, but you didn't WANT to. (just a side note, I can appreciate this sentiment, I like living in a house too ) And that Orange is something we WANT rather then NEED. Oranges aren't indigenous to places that the human came from thus it's not a natural part of the human diet, we found it, learned how to eat it, and developed taste for it. So, perhaps this is an argument to live the simple life.

To live is something different than being alive. a human can be alive without contact with other humans but do they live?
As for the house it costs about €400 more to own a house than to rent an apartment here so it is more of a necessity to own as there is no control as landlords can raise the price as much as they want with no notice.
So are you saying that living in a cave eating nothing but meat is where we should be?
That is as simple a life as you can get.
Just thinking about it and I am finding it hard to express.
My fiancee and I had a near death incident recently. Had we been a meter further on in the road one or both of us would be dead. I realized that I would rather be dead than live without her. Life can be simple but can the simple life be fulfilling?

Well, I do live the simple life in spite of my little laptop here. At one time I made all of my own clothes, grew my own fruit and vegetables and raised my own meat. Electricity is turbine, but I do plan on switching over to solar at some point. Water is well water and sewage is septic. In other words, I have no "real" bills per say. This is the way they did things back in the day (well besides the turbine power laptop and well/septic of course), and where they satisfied with life? You bet they where. It's what they had, they needed to be satisfied with life. There's nothing in life more satisfying then knowing you did it yourself. My argument is really this... The things that are complicating our lives now, and lead us to believe it's part of living, are actually going to be our downfall at one point or another. Cars create pollution faster then the planet can heal and make us fat do to inactivity. And, A throw away society creates more trash then we have space to move it to. Things are just way too easy and we have gotten lasy because of that. I challenge everybody in the forum, go to the store, buy a bolt of fabric and an interesting pattern, and make a piece of clothing, or perhaps even just a quilt out of old clothing. This is simplified because you don't have to grow and pick the Cotton, spin the thread and weave the fabric. The only thing you have to do is cut the fabric, match the seams and sew the peises together. Let me know what you think of it. This just seems to give people perspective is all I'm saying with this really. An understanding of just how far we have come, and an appreciation for what we have. This also helps people understand the difference between need and want. If you can't make it yourself do you really need it all that bad, is the complication really worth it? Or is it going to be one of those things where it's just easier to go out and buy the item after somebody else made it for you? Materialism complicates life. Because of the desire to have more, we strive to have more in our daily lives and we come to rely on these things. When these things are all gone, when the pollution finally does the planet in, the survivors will be standing around saying "Now what?" Life has suddenly been stripped right back down to the basics. What an enormous price to pay for leisure. Just my little two cents on the whole "meaning of life" thing, but of cource I don't expect anybody else to agree or follow suit. I'm a crazy old bat.

Tucked away in our official timberland for you for you subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that timberland 6 inch spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out timberland 6 inch boots windows, we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways, of timberland rolltop boots waving at a crossing, of cattle grazing on a distant timberland waterproof boots hillside, of smoke pouring from a power plant, of row upon row of corn and wheat, of flatlands and timberland boots valleys, of mountains and rolling timberland kids boots hillsides, of city skylines and village halls. It is a good timberland 6 inch boots thing that the God Who made us is not impatient with people like me with my timberland shoe company orchid. He lovingly thinks about us all the time timberland boots and he even temporarily gave up His heavenly home and his timberland boat shoes hold on diety to die for the sins of timberland mens custom world nearly 2,000 years ago. His death back then covered the sins of every classic 3 eye timberland boat person who will ever live. He then rose to life after three timberland mens chukka? days and ever since has wanted us to accept His gracious act by loving Him and also those around us. When we do this, we will see people in a totally different womens timberland boot light ¡ª one that redefines what it means to be ugly or different or weird or strange. Instead, we see people with ugly cheap timberland boots store problems in whom God is working so they can bloom beautifully ¡ª just like I now see in my orchids whether they are ¡°lumps¡± or blossoms! On a certain timberland work shoes day at a certain hour, we will pull into the station. Bands will be playing and flags waving. Once we get there, so many wonderful dreams will come true and the pieces of our timberland shoes store lives will fit together like a completed jigsaw puzzle. How restlessly we pace the aisles, *ing the minutes for timberland for you loitering --waiting, waiting, waiting for the station. Lydia
